I’m Kristine Gregory, president and principal designer of Bedeckers Interiors. My passion for design goes all the way back to elementary school where I developed a love for drawing furnished floor plans and decorating cardboard boxes as doll houses. A basic Kenmore sewing machine and some scraps of fabric opened doors to creating clothing and furnishings for my dolls. I began expressing myself with watercolors as soon I could hold a paint brush. I love color and have a keen understanding of its psychology and importance in life. Organizing is also second nature. For me, clutter is overwhelming. I have an affinity for creating functional spaces. As a child, I organized my parent’s home and remember being able to quickly retrieve anything they asked for.
I’ve always been attracted to activities where I can express my creativity. Painting, drawing, theatre, writing, photography, cooking and baking are all important. My writing has been published in trade magazines and I’ve been featured in local publications. My paintings are available for sale.
I’m a textile junkie. My design clients provide the perfect opportunity for me to indulge in gorgeous fabrics. Sharing my love and knowledge of the workmanship of quality fabrics is a way to channel that passion. Everyone should have the chance to live with beautiful, well-made things.
I live in Central Virginia with my husband Gregg, my college sweetheart. Together, we love to travel the world. We have an amazing son. I’m a poodle mom to Junie Bear, my studio assistant.
I have been so fortunate to have developed long-term relationships with my clients. Some have been with me from the beginning of my over 25-year career. It’s always fun to tackle new projects together. I love to create beautiful and functional spaces that encompass the essential elements of space, light and order. Rooms that are designed with these things will serve them well.
Kristine was published for the first time in 2009 and wrote for design trade publications for several years. Most recently, she writes for herself. Through workshops, she has honed her skill in memoir writing. It gives her a place to house all the stories and observations that are constantly swirling in her head. Who knows, there might be a book in there yet.
An organized home is essential to living well. When rooms, closets and even something as small as a drawer are cluttered, it costs you time and money. Cluttered spaces affect your overall well-being. They can cause overwhelm and instability. I love working with clients to bring order and peace into their world. Organization is not about just buying a bunch of containers to dump your stuff. It is consciously and carefully examining what you have and making choices. Deciding what is worthy of occupying valuable real estate in your home is a process. Bedeckers Interiors works together with you to organize your belongings, make sense of their placement and create systems you can use going forward to remain clutter-free.
Kristine is a Contemporary Artist / Illustrator who works primarily in watercolor. For the longest time, she called herself a closet-artist because she never shared her creations even though she was in an artist group. In 2011 she began painting more consistently, carved out a dedicated art space in her interior design studio, and began selling her paintings. Her favorite subjects are children and pets. There is an innocence that’s so captivating that she loves to try to capture in her art. Kristine’s watercolor paintings are in private collections throughout the United States.
"The workmanship and design advice I received from Bedeckers rivals that of any New York design firm. I am always impressed by the amount of sample materials Kristine brings when we are working on a project. Bedeckers has outfitted my entire home and the compliments I receive from our guests on how well our home is “put together” always brings a smile to my face. Bedeckers has helped me create a warm and inviting atmosphere from flooring to walls and window treatments. I always feel like the investment I have made in our decorating projects is well worth it. More importantly, I always look forward to what we are going to do next together. If you have not considered a consult with Bedeckers Interiors…you are missing out!"
"Over the years you have helped make our house into a home and have always delivered a product above expectations. You’ve always been available when needed and bring a selection to choose from that reflects our style. Love your expertise with coordinating colors!"
"The best part of working with Kristine Gregory has been her ability to understand what I like, and to work within my budget. She also has been very open to my suggestions and has made me feel as though the interior design of my home really reflects my taste."
"Kristine, Just wanted to thank you so much for your wisdom, vision, suggestions and calming presence in our meeting on Tuesday (not to mention your measuring and crawling around very large rolls of insulation!) I think I really needed your assurance that it was OK to design our new home outside the box to fit the way we live."
"Kristine is skillfully efficient in assimilating your personal taste and creating interiors that reflect your personality, style and most importantly help you stay within budget. In our work with Kristine, my wife and found a true professional and a partner in our design work for our home. We have used Kristine for several projects and we would highly recommend her and her work to anyone serious about their interiors. Kristine brings deep and practical experience in her work and shares her passion for her craft and excitement in her creations as well."
"Kristine is fabulous! She has a wonderful eye for colors and for blending fabrics and paints together; things feel seamless as you move from room to room. Kristine is also wonderful about offering as little or as much help as you need. There are sometimes that you just want choices, and other times you want someone to just give you the best looking option. Kristine is extremely flexible in her approach to projects and works "with" you to make sure you feel good about the process, and the end result. Kristine is also very efficient, she handles all the little details and helps to achieve a quick turnaround once engaged on a project. I highly recommend Kristine for any and all design consultations."
"Kristine turned our nice house into a really beautiful house. We gave her very tight constraints: only use existing furnishings, select new wall colors, and design new window coverings. The difference that Kristine made was amazing. Rooms really opened up, colors brought new life, fabrics and details gave a rich and warm feeling. We now live in rooms we almost never entered before Kristine applied her touch. Kristine really listens. She knows that this is a house that has to be right for us, not for her and she got to know us and our interests so that her designs would fit with our personalities. Working with her was a very positive experience. We will do it again, soon."
"Kristine, thank you so much for all of your prompt replies. I can say you make me feel like I am your only client, and I am sure you are very busy! Thanks again for all your help! I will be definitely be in touch and I am looking forward to your assistance in re-decorating our home."
"Dear Kristine, I just wanted to thank you for your vision. We absolutely love the downstairs. The columns look great. The wall colors are perfect and the art is amazing. of course, my very favorite part of the room is the chaise. It is so comfortable. Thanks for making the coordinating pillow too. We are so pleased."
"I love it! It’s my happy place! Everything just came together one step at a time once we had the overall plan. What made the big difference was you telling us where to put the refrigerator. Once that was in place we could build around it. Once we had the vision we created with you, the whole process was less overwhelming. Your work is so important."
"Kristine is consummately talented in every aspect of interior design, providing a full range of interior design products and services. She is not only efficient and detailed, she takes great pride in working to the highest standards possible on every project. Her projects extend (no limits) out beyond the borders of Virginia. She is constantly staying abreast of current trends and new products. To top it all off, she is so delightfully personable, and develops close working relationships with her clients from start to finish. It was an honor to work with and for her from late 1996 to 2001, when I moved to Northern Virginia. She will always be one of my most favorite designers."
"What sets Kristine apart is her attention to changes in fashions and trends where she seeks to expand her knowledge to provide her customers the uniqueness she feels they deserve. She contracts with the highest quality vendors to make sure she is providing the customer with the very best. It was a joy to see the customers’ reactions when Kristine finished each decorating project. Please allow Kristine to bring her design touch to your home or office. You will be glad you did."
"You have helped me to feel free from clutter to live a better life, taught me organizational techniques to live by, I feel supported, encouraged & accomplished because this has been a big goal of mine. And thank you so very much for all of that!!!!! "
"Regardless of the task, Kristine has always done a FANTASTIC job! What seems like a daunting task becomes manageable and fun! She gives a new meaning to ‘turn that frown upside down’ because I walk away with a smile upon seeing the results and finished project."
